Licensing
Touchdown Engineering Ltd is a CAA licensed Part M aircraft engineering company authorised to carry out a wide range of aircraft routine maintenance, renovation, rebuild & restoration work to professional standards. We are in the process of applying for EASA Part M, Sub categories F, G and I, scheduled to come into effect in September 2008. These changes will apply to all EASA adopted aircraft [Annexe One] bringing significant changes to the way maintenance is managed.
This may affect you! Don't get caught out. The onus for implementation of these major changes rests with the aircraft owner/operator. Take a look at the summary or effect provided here and download the PDF document for an understanding of what is to come and how liaison with a qualified Part 'M' maintenance organisation like Touchdown Engineering will smooth the way to a seamless transition from the existing LAMS system to the new one.
LTO 2007 − 006, Maintenance Programme Approval
Summary for Owners [abridged].
Effective 28th September 2008.
What does it mean to the owner/operator?
- Have you read 'Letter to Owner/Operator No: 2007 − 006 from the CAA?
- Do you understand what it will mean to you as owner/operator?
- Part M is a new Standard of Maintenance to be brought in by EASA in 2008.
- It means that you as owner/operator are responsible for the aircraft's airworthiness − no one else!
- You will have to choose a 'CAMO' − a 'Continuing Airworthiness Maintenance Organisation'. This will be a Part M Approved workshop.
- This organisation will control the aircraft's maintenance and issue the 'Annual Review' which leads to the issue of a 12 month Airworthiness Renewal Certificate [ARC].
- Initially, with the CAMO you will have to produce a Controlled Maintenance Programme for each individual aircraft.
- You will need to choose the chosen CAMO well as there will be penalties in changing them. After the ARC the work may be done by a Sub Part 'F' provider, if the CAMO is willing to sign off their work.
- There is much more to absorb. See the downloadable EASA Part M LTO − 2007 - 006 PDF here for more detail. Our thanks go to [© David Gash] who wrote the article for 'Helicopter Life' magazine to whom we are also grateful for the copy.
- See also our 'Letter to Owner/Operators' here as a PDF in case you have mislaid yours!
Do not ignore this. If you do, your aircraft could become un−airworthy after 28th September 2008.
Speak to us to help smooth your way across this new maintenance minefield!
